I like this image not just because

the polar bear. (the movie has good stuff in it.)

my first 30 years were predominantly instinctive and reactive
whereas the next 30 are attempting to be proactive and learned.

its funny but at the moment i regard
ohio as a complete success
its a personal triumph
not in some CBT bullshit kinda way

as i age near 40
my thoughts on challenge
(e.g. solo climbing,)
have changed somewhat.

if i came off the mountain
or climb without 'success'
then i would have regarded it all as a complete failure.
But now, with time and experience
i can see that the act itself, of moving,
trying, being in the moment, pushing so much
is in itself a celebration of life and existence
away from the hum-drum mediocrity of the box.

in other words its all success as we
live instead of merely existing.
